Transcription: Treasure 45, Gobi Flag. This flag was tattered by a violent Gobi Desert sandstorm that sandblasted car windshields so badly they had to be removed. Roy Chapman Andrews, a mammologist at the museum and its director for seven years, brought this flag on the 1922 expedition to the Gobi Desert. Mounted at the head of a convoy of cars, trucks, 125 camels and dozens of scientists and assistants, it was battered by what Andrews recalled as 100 mile an hour winds, like a thousand shrieking demons.
